The EMMBIOME master programme is developed by the partnership between the three partner Universities  – University of Kragujevac (Serbia), University of Patras (Greece) and University of Medicine and Pharmacy Grigore T. Popa (Romania).

 

About Partners:

The University of Kragujevac was founded in 1976. It is located in the Central Serbia. The University of Kragujevac is a modern education and research center embracing almost all major areas of teaching and research, with a student population of 20,000 and 1,200 academic staff. It has a lot of experience in academic and research. EMMBIOME teaching will mainly be carried out by the Faculty of Engineering and the Centre for Bioengineering (founded in 2006). The Center for Bioengineering is focused on the use of the latest technologies for problems in the field of biomedical engineering. It is one of leaders in the region in the field of interdisciplinary computational and biomedical research as well as software development for application in the biomedical field. The main fields of expertise are: Computer simulation of the cardiovascular system; Stent design, optimisation and testing; Thrombosis Modeling; Microvascular Blood Flow; Nanoparticles Delivery; Biomechanical modelling and simulation.

The University of Patras was founded in the city of Patras in 1964 and it began functioning in the Academic year 1966-67. The University of Patras is the third largest University in Greece regarding the size of student potential, the Faculty Members, Administrative Personnel, number of departments, and accredited student titles. The University of Patras includes 24 Departments, with a large number of sectors and consequently a great range of disciplines, which operate 161 laboratories and 17 fully equipped clinics. The University of Patras has 32,398 Undergraduate and 3,781 Postgraduate students, a total of 633 faculty members, 191 Teaching and Technical staff and 357 Administrative Personnel. Besides its distinguished path in education, the University of Patras has excelled in the fields of Basic and Applied Research. EMMBIOME teaching will be carried out by the collaboration of the four departments of the University of Patras: Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics, Department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics and School of Medicine.

University of Medicine and Pharmacy Grigore T. Popa is one of the oldest educational places in Romania. It was founded in 1879 as a Faculty of Medicine, later being associated with other three institutions which complete the medical instruction area – the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Medical Bioengineering. Currently, the University has over 10,000 students of which more than 2,500 are international students from over 60 countries (the largest community of international students in the Romania).
